Tentacle project: Finished

I wanted to create a more detailed and ethereal scene. I would have included more high lights and a contrasting unearthly light to add to the unnerving feel. As well as this I would have liked to include more tentacles. I would have liked to include her wings, which where present on the original sketch.

Crashing and Burning... Plane Crash brief

Just setting the scene, 0% work on the main guy... His story will soon be written (I've got it aaaall figured out). Will obviously work over all the buildings etc.

Lines and stuff...

Extra items required.

Different way to do it...gave it a go...

Unfortunately I'm sick... This is all I managed.

Halloween sketch

The start of my halloween idea. Trying to capture the contrast of the original images while bringing in more form.

Halloween sketch

Well, my boyfriend sent me a scary face he saw in the paint work of a car, and I thought it was interesting SO... Though it'd work well with my were-idea - duality and all that. GO.

White face is in profile, other scary face is straight on, bam, kinda creepy.

Obviously needs a lot more tone - generally just needs a lot of work but could be much fun.

Tree sketches and Final piece

Struggled a lot with this one. I've never really tackled environmental scenes, ever. I wanted to create an image with interesting light and strong definition of a single tree.

Here is my finished piece:

My first actual attempt on doing a background piece, EVER on photoshop. I think it turned out pretty well. I'm still unsure on techniques on creating leaves but the fore tree became pretty nice. I used a reference picture - though it's not exact and colour picked from there. It was great practice and I'm considerably less daunted to try backgrounds in the future, the next true challenge will be a city scape.

Tree sketches

Never really ever done back grounds before... So this has been a hard one for me. Here's some ideas:

Don't know whether to go for second or third...

Tree board

It's that time again.

I'd like to do an ethereal looking hanging tree, something which blue glowing beauty defies its morbid nature. Freaking love that blue glowy effect...

Surreal final piece

Final piece and close up :)

Surreal project

Here's my surreal mood board:

Mermaids and Sirens are by legend rather mischievous little critters, you know, with the drawing sailors to the rocks and then eating them thing. They deal with deception  posing as something innocent while actually being a predator. The angler fish too does this far down in the depths of the sea, they use a bio-luminescent lure to fool other fish into thinking it's prey, very clever. NOW FUSE. A deep sea mermaid - the face of a beautiful woman attached to something not so pleasant...

Here's a work into progress picture. I didn't do any sketches, I just dove straight in. I think I'm getting better...Maybe.

Robot Mood Board

Okay, so the GENERAL idea is that I will draw a robot of war, a giant machine of destruction and ruin, kneeling, pulling out its circuit boards as a 'gift' from a highly modern lady robot.

We'll see how that goes I guess.

Not originally what I had planned but I think it turned out pretty well. Spent quite a long time doing this one, however given a large time frame I would have added a background to make the figure 'pop' more. Other than that I actually incorporated extra texture to the armour and head areas - which is something unusual for me, but I think it worked quite effectively.

Tentacle Sketches

Initial sketches for the Tentacle brief. I love the mythos created by H.P. Lovecraft and really wanted to include the god of madness Cthulhu, who is my favourite out of the Lovecraft world.

Tentacles...

My mood board:

What I'm considering is this: I'm a fan of H.P.Lovecraft and I'd like to some epically monsterous colossus with inspiration from the might Cthulhu. I'd like to involve epic scale by including either some kind of structure or human subject. Would love to include an optical illustion, and the flare of wings like in the two pictures above. Might do a combination of skin textures, parts slimey smooth and a bit of toad like - yuck. Also, love Alien so might include some ref like few mouthed tentacles and perhaps bladed ones.

Texture House

Unmapping, applying texture...
Thrills.

Its fun in the sun

So they say...

Outdoor lighting. Hope this is what we're supposed to do.

We be Trolling...

They assesing. Patrolling they try to mark my lighting.
....
Okay, anyway. I liked lighting, had a good old play with position, intensity of both the lights and the shadows. Also Omni Slash.

Model Gun

1,801 poly gun (I know it's over the 1500 limit, but I included some detail aspects so I'm sure I'll be forgiven)
